Stories in the Dust
The sun beats down on two travellers, journeying across a mysterious land in a contraption they’ve built themselves. They sing, play games, and tell stories inspired by a collection of precious things they’ve gathered from a time gone by.
With live music and puppetry, Stories in the Dust is a funny, heartfelt and hopeful eco-fable that takes you to another world where an ancient book guides the way, a drop of rain changes everything and a mighty lion holds its secrets in an old clay pot.
For ages 5-12
Stories in the Dust was originally created with a seed fund from MAST Mayflower Studios and shared at their Emergency Festival in 2022. It went on to pilot tour to community settings through Wiltshire Creative. The show was further developed thanks to public funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England in Summer 2023, in partnership with Pound Arts. It then went on to tour throughout Autumn 2023. The show received further Arts Council funding to tour in Autumn 2024 and is now taking bookings for 2025 and beyond.
Show themes include: the climate emergency, displacement, hope, friendship, fresh food, storytelling, mythology.

‘Elegant engaging eco-fable’
‘ There are echoes of Riddley Walker, there are notes of the Mad Max franchise, but above all, this is
Cormac McCarthy’s The Road for littleys.
The two performers are friendly and approachable; there is joy in their friendship, they play sweet music
and sing pretty songs together and it makes them happy.
‘It isn’t a preachy show it’s just very brave, very upfront and very good.
