ECHO and STILL / SPARKLING – Grace & Growl
Grace and Growl are a contemporary dance company of mature adults based in West Dorset led by Artistic Director Anna Golding following the model of a professional dance company. Since 2016, Grace & Growl has worked with award-winning international choreographers such as Eleesha Drennan and Luke Brown performing at local and regional performing arts venues including Bridport Arts Centre, Salisbury Arts Centre and Pavilion Dance South West (PDSW) in Bournemouth.
Grace & Growl’s most recent film, ‘Echo’ was selected for the 2022 Exeter Dance International Film Festival. Echo is choreographed and directed by Anna Golding and was a collaborative project working with film makers Rob Jayne and Jack Wightman, designer Mickey Bonome and composer Robert Lee.
Grace and Growl’s earlier film, ‘Still / Sparkling’ is also choreographed and directed by Anna Golding. In 2017, Still / Sparkling won Silver at the Pavilion Dance South-West Joie de Vivre dance for camera competition.
DANCE WEAVERS IV – Bridport Youth Dance
The Dance Weavers films emerged from Bridport Youth Dance’s creative response to the lockdown of 2020. During this time BYD established both a remote programme and an outdoor dance education programme – dancing in gardens with live music, on beaches and creating site specific work including “Choreography Geography” on Eggardon Hill.
At the same time BYD’s founder and director Nikki Northover began to collaborate with former BYD dancer and talented local film maker Elliot Millson to create a series of short dance films, The Dance Weavers, which are largely set in the spectacular landscape of West Dorset with the young dancers responding to the land through movement and dance.
The latest film in the series, Dance Weavers IV, “Choreography Geography” was shot in Autumn 2022 in the spectacular surroundings of Eggardon Hill fort and has a score by local award winning composer Andrew Dickson..
Join us also for today’s 2.30pm partner event for the first ever screening of the full ‘box set’ of Dance Weavers films and to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Bridport Youth Dance.
