Flamenco Dance Theatre with Salud
In her brand-new creation, Bridport-based Spanish artist Salud uses her unique combination of flamenco dance and theatre to explore the life of a carer looking after a loved one at home.
Sólo Yo – ‘Just Me’ – centers on the inner feelings of a person devoting themselves entirely to the needs of another, with emotions ranging from loneliness to affection, hope and despair.
In a deeply moving and emotionally engaging performance with elements from various Spanish dance traditions, Salud draws on experiences from her own family to pay homage to the generosity and self-sacrifice of those whose lives are seemingly put on hold as they attend to the needs of others.
