An online film festival celebrating the arts community within Bridport and West Dorset as captured on film by local filmmakers. Each Friday in January we shall be releasing a new short film about one of Bridport Arts Centre’s inspiring peers and partners to this online festival website.

Our fifth film is from Wessex Community Assets who engage with and support ambitious and innovative ecological and community engagement projects. The film was commissioned as part of a project working with Tamarisk Farm in West Bexington to undertake field trials in growing, processing and processing long stalk flax using traditional methods. Shot by Chasing Cow Productions on Super 8mm film and bathed in idyllic West Dorset summer light, the film has a particular visual quality.

Our fourth film is from Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company who make shows for families that unite creativity and imagination, so that children and adults can learn together and inspire each other. The film illustrates the process of creating a new show, The Three Little Pigs, with workshops bringing together theatre professionals with school children from Bridport, Poole and Plymouth to jointly breathe life and playful vitality into the new show. The Three Little Pigs will be performed live on stage at Bridport Arts Centre on 1st March 2025

Our third film is from Bridport Youth Dance who run dance classes for ages 5 – 21 years and workshops with leading teachers and choreographers from across the UK. The film, The Dance Weavers, Joy in Motion, beautifully captures the pure joy of dance movement – in the studio, on the stage, and in the built and natural environments of Bridport and West Dorset.

Our second film is from Bridport Film Society who bring carefully curated seasons of world cinema to Bridport and West Dorset. The film was commissioned as part of the film society’s 60th anniversary celebrations and aims to capture the spirit of a vibrant society, which has played a significant role in the Bridport arts scene for many years including supporting local emerging filmmakers.

Our first film celebrates some of the work of  The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares who deliver creative writing workshops for children aged between 7 and 18 in West Dorset. The film, Resonate 2024, captures the unfolding of a recent event, in which young writers from across Dorset joined with a professional poet to create spoken word pieces to be performed on stage at an event at Bridport Arts Centre.
