Tom Hallifax | Lost Property
“All art is autobiographical to some extent. We share our experiences and thoughts as a way of engaging with the social and co-operative network that defines us as a species. This exhibition is a gathering together of my places, encounters and stories. I hope you find some connection in it.
The life of objects, both natural and manmade, has always fascinated me. The focus that an artist applies to an object, be it a person, a tree or a piece of junk, can draw out its stories and investigate meanings that may have gone un-noticed. And these objects reward the artist, and hopefully the viewer, by revealing themselves with greater intensity, so that their associative and physical magic can emerge. I have become increasingly interested in the more musical communication of gesture and pattern, and the creation of objects with a particular and constructed meaning.” Tom Hallifax
